Music is taught by teachers as part of the curriculum in all Year groups. We also enhance our music
provision in a number of ways:
We have a Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 choir. The choirs perform within school, at their own
concerts, at our Christmas Carols in the playground, at the church and at regional events
such as the Brid Big Sing and the Young Voices concert.
Year 4 and Year 5 receive a free weekly percussion lesson as a class from an external musician.
They learn how to play xylophones and djembe drums, how to read music and perform a concert.
We have various peripatetic music teachers who visit the school weekly to teach individual lessons
on a wide variety of instruments including violin, flute, guitar and drums. These individual lessons
are subsidised by the school but have a cost associated with them.
We have a whole school orchestra for children who play instruments which practices after school.
